How to Install a Taylor Machine/Freezer

Installing a Taylor machine or freezer is straightforward if you follow the proper steps and have the right setup. This guide will walk you through the key elements to ensure a smooth installation.
Note: Freezers should be moved by a professional due to the weight, to avoid any injuries.

Step 1: Prepare the Correct Electrical and Cooling for your Taylor Model

Before installation, confirm data plate information to assure correct electrical and cooling configurations.

  • All purchases from Taylor Products include specific requirements noted on the sales order. For questions about your machine’s specifications, consult:

Step 2: Electrical Configurations

Taylor machines require specific electrical setups. Below are the most common configurations:

  • 120 Volt
    • 15 or 20 Amps
    • Wire size: 12-gauge copper wire
  • 208-230/60/3Ph
    • 20 Amp: Wire size 12-gauge copper wire
    • 30 Amp: Wire size 10-gauge copper wire
  • 208-230/60/1Ph
    • 20 Amp: Wire size 12-gauge copper wire
    • 30 Amp: Wire size 10-gauge copper wire

Taylor Products machines use twist-lock receptacles for 208-230 V models.

Electrical Notes:

  • Some Taylor models may require two power lines to operate the freezer. Always verify your machine’s specific requirements.

Step 3: Cooling Options

Taylor machines offer two primary cooling options: air-cooled and water-cooled.

Air-Cooled Machines:

  • Use an internal blower (air-cooled) to cool the system, making them easier to install.
  • Installation Note: Allow at least 6 inches of air gap between the machine and walls or nearby Taylor machines. This ensures the blower can intake cool air efficiently.

Water-Cooled Machines:

  • Require the following:
    • ½-inch cold water line
    • ¾-inch shut-off valve
    • Forced drain within 5 feet of the machine
  • Water Usage: These machines can use up to ¾ gallon of water per minute under full load. They are not recommended for locations with private wells or septic systems.

Step 4: Final Checks

For a seamless installation experience, always consult with a Taylor expert to confirm your site’s readiness. They can help you avoid common pitfalls and ensure your machine operates at peak efficiency from day one.
